To commemorate the 100th birthday of the Negroni, and in honour of La Fête des Pères (Father’s Day, 16th June 2019), we are delighted to crown the Negroni as our Special apéritif for June.

A bittersweet combination of three ingredients - Martini Rosso, Campari, and gin - the Negroni is a handsome and sophisticated apéritif.  Bright and bold, and garnished with a slice of dried orange, this classic cocktail is a treat for both the eyes and the palate.

L’heure de l’apéro or simply l’apéro is integral to French culture. This early evening ritual that combines drinks, food, and friends is the perfect way to say goodbye to the day’s stresses and mark the beginning of a relaxing evening.

The inclusion of Campari in a Negroni creates a distinct bitterness and earthy flavour. Because of this, it pairs splendidly well with strongly flavoured foods such as bold cheeses, and salty charcuterie. For the perfect ‘l’apéro’, try pairing the deliciously dry Negroni with our Saucisson Sec, featured on the Á La Carte menu.

Our Saucisson Sec is made using the finest cuts of pork, from pigs born and bred in the French highlands. Produced in the stunning mountain village of Violay, situated 835 meters above sea level, the area benefits from the pure air of the Massif Central, which is conducive to the production and ripening of dry cured meats. This award-winning saucisson is made using traditional methods, which give it a superior taste and quality.

If you’d like to try a wider range of cured meats to complement your Negroni, we also highly recommend the Charcuterie Board. A generous platter of Jambon de Savoie, smoked duck breast, saucisson sec, and duck rillettes servedwith baby gem salad and chargrilled pain de campagne. Equally delicious as a starter for one, or when shared with a friend over a couple of Negronis.

What better way to start your Father’s Day celebration than with Negronis and charcuterie? Book a table today and give ‘Papa’ a truly special day.
